TWOsome in Chicago part one

It's good to be back (for those, who do not know: spent various weeks as a mothers-helper in Chicago right after school, which is some more years ago, kept coming back to the same pile of laundry year after year after year...). When WE walked out of the O'Hare Airport yesterday, the familiar overwhelming heat hit us right away. It's humid in Chicago, bright sunlight's greeting us. Warm welcome, from friend as well who pick's us up and drives us home to his suburban place and family.
When you travel with kids it's not easy to find friends who actually put up with so many MINORS. But because of the kids outnumbering the party three by one we get to sl
eep in the basement. In the activity room. Activity rooms are very american. There is usually at le
ast one huge TV-Screen with comfi sofas in front, a bar and if enough space a pool table as well. This one is big, pool table and all. One sofa unfolds, two get to sleep on air martresses.
Very important: Communication. I'm not in the mood to loose a child or two in the crowded places we are about to visit the next three weeks so were heading for the next possible shop to buy some phones. Telefonie is so different here, much cheaper, as long as you call nationwide, and easy to get access to. For $30 a piece the kids get phones including 300 minutes of communication time - each! One is actually a virgin phone, pretty cool! In the same supermarket kids get to choose cereal for breakfast. Hard stuff, because there is so much more CHOICE! A whole isle just cereal!
Aftre the trip and shopping and successfully seting up the phones we are quite exhausted and sleep well, Chicago-day lays ahead...
